Jennifer Robinson, an Australian human rights lawyer (now UK based) will talk about the human rights situation in West Papua.
Jen graduated in law and Asian studies from the Australian National University. She won a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford and graduated from Balliol with a BCL distinction and a MPhil in public international law.
She is well qualified to talk about the human rights situation in West Papua having done her field research there, working with the West Papuan human rights organization Elsham. She worked on a number of cases in West Papua including that of high profile political prisoner, Benny Wenda, now a refugee in the UK. Recently, an Interpol red notice has been issued for the arrest of Oxford-based Benny by the Indonesian government.
