An OPM member killed in Puncak Jaya

OPM has threatened to take up arms again.

A member of the National Defence Army of Free Papua Movement was shot dead in an armed incident in the vicinity of Post Red and White, Mulia, Puncak Jaya, Papua.

However the Head of Information Cenderawasih XVII Military Area Command Infantry Colonel Ali Bogra said it could not confirm it. "It could have been, but I have not been able to confirm the information. Now I am in Bandung. I'll check again to the field, "Ali said yesterday.

The victim was killed in a gunfight that occurred on Thursday named Lindiron Tabuni.

From the hands of the victims, found a rifle type SS1V1, with serial number A.095370 AG. Also found as many as 75 rounds of ammunition shells. Allegedly it was a weapons and ammunition captured from the hands of police armed groups in 2009.

Previously, Lambert Pekikir, coordinator of the OPM in Papua, said it will not attack military or police. "Papuan issue should be resolved through international mechanisms. Shootout or whatever will not make Papua separated from Homeland, "he said.

Lambert added that if the government and the military continues to blame in any shooting OPM, OPM will again take up arms. "Rather than keep this up, just shoot us. Tell the same government or our military ready gunfire, "he said.
