This northern summer has seen the Arctic shrink massively

This northern summer has seen the Arctic shrink massively.

The day on which it may be at its smallest point since records began is around a week or so away. The retreat is now on a par with the thaw that preceded the current record low - set in 2007.

This is a clear sign that the world is approaching a point at which a state of runaway climate change is triggered, and that dramatic cuts in emissions are needed within 10 years.

The Greenpeace ship the Arctic Sunrise is in the Arctic, with a crew of scientists on board. There are great still and moving images being sent out from the ship all the time. Please get in touch if you would like to arrange an interview/get some background with/from Simon Boxer, Greenpeace NZ's Senior Climate Campaigner. Some interviews with those on board the ship may be possible later this month.
