Deputy Secretary Thomas Nides' Travel to Australia and New Zealand

Thomas R. Nides, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, will travel to Australia and New Zealand September 5-9, 2011.
In Sydney, Deputy Secretary Nides will meet with the American Chamber of Commerce and university students. He will also deliver a speech on U.S.-Australia economic cooperation. In Canberra, he will meet with representatives of the Australian government.
In New Zealand, Deputy Secretary Nides will lead the highest-level ever U.S. delegation to the Pacific Island Forum Post-Forum Dialogue. Deputy Secretary Nides will be accompanied by Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell and representatives from the White House, Departments of State, Defense and Commerce, as well as from the U.S. Agency for International Development, Peace Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard.
While in Auckland, Deputy Secretary Nides will also meet with representatives of the governments of New Zealand and other Post-Forum Dialogue partners including representatives from the European Union, Papua New Guinea, and China.
He will return to Washington, D.C. on September 9.
