Moin Akhtar – A legend who can never be replaced
‘I feel, I am the most blessed person by Allah’; Moin Akhtar, October, 1998, Sydney
Sydney; (By Syed Atiq ul Hassan); Today, Pakistani nation and the people who understand Urdu & Hindi around the world are shocked by the sudden death of a great legend of Pakistan, Moin Akhtar.
My heart is broken today but I feel proud that in October, 1998 when he visited Sydney (Australia) I and Surraya Hassan interviewed him for Tribune and spend couple of hours with him. During his interview, Moin Akhtar said, ‘I feel, I am the most blessed person by Allah’. He said, ‘he likes to bestow most of his time providing laughter and joy to the people, especially after my open- heart surgery (1997)’ [Interview to Pakistan Tribune, October, 1998, Sydney].
Prior to the interview we were so excited on an opportunity to conduct his interview for my newspaper and radio show, when we met him, just in few minutes we were feeling that we were talking to a person who we knew since ages. He was very kind, down-to-earth man, a jolly character, impressive personality and a great human being.
I don’t think, anyone can ever fill the gap of Moin Akhtar. He was a creative, innovative and led by his own example in the world of entertainment. Moin Akhtar left behind unaccountable memories for his millions of fans and left a great example for people of media, arts & entertainment.
