Message from the Mexican Government regarding Chch Quake

Mexico expresses solidarity with New Zealand in the aftermath of the earthquake that struck the South Island
Mexico City, Tuesday 22 February
The Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Government of Mexico, expresses its profound dismay regarding the effects of the earthquake on the South Island of New Zealand, particularly the city of Christchurch, resulting in the loss of numerous lives and major damage to property.
The Ministry wishes to convey to the New Zealand Government and to the victims’ families an expression of solidarity in the face of this tragedy and sends its best wishes for the swift recovery of the area that has been affected.
The Mexican Government is ready and willing to support the Government and people of New Zealand at this difficult time.
Meanwhile, the Ministry, through its Embassy in Wellington, is establishing contact with members of the Mexican community living in New Zealand and will remain constantly attentive to their needs in spite of the current communication problems.
