Grouplove To Release Debut EP On February 28th
Monday 14th February
Los Angeles based band Grouplove are set to release their self-titled debut E.P on February 28th.
The five track disk features the current radio single Colours.
Call it fate, call it destiny or call it happy circumstance, it is undeniable that Grouplove were meant to be. Core members Hannah Hooper and Christian Zucconi met for the first time one evening on the lower east side of Manhattan. Both calling New York City their hometown, both interested and motivated by the same muses, it was quite curious that they had not bumped into each other earlier and from that night forward the two could hardly be pulled apart.
Shortly after their meeting Hooper, an accomplished artist, was invited to an art residency in Greece on the island of Crete. Without any hesitation she invited her new friend Zucconi to join her on this journey. It was on Crete that Hooper and Zucconi met the people that 12 months later would form Grouplove. Sean Gadd, a natural songwriter and guitar player, born and bred in London instantly bonded with the two eccentric New Yorkers. Their relationship became apparent through the music they were making day in and day out. Andrew Wessen, a pro surfer and musician from Los Angeles and his childhood friend Ryan Rabin, an accomplished drummer and producer, were also at the residency and quickly joined in with the musical trio.
When the summer ended the five friends made their way back to their respective corners of the globe, promising that they would find a way to have their paths cross again. Once apart, as the old saying goes, the heart grew fonder. "We all understood how rare it is for five strangers to feel as close as family and create passionate music together. We couldn't just return to Brooklyn and let the music we all made fade into a memory of that summer we had in Greece," explains Zucconi. Sean in London, and Christian and Hannah in Brooklyn soon made the decision to join Ryan and Andrew in Los Angeles, where they could put on record what they had created at Ryan Rabin’s studio. "We seriously had the best time of our lives doing that record," says Zucconi.
The result is an incredibly special debut release where soaring harmonies coupled with sweeping anthems lead you through their powerful journey. From the rosy hues of lead single Colours with its creative repetition and sunny disposition, to the honest somber reflections of Gold Coast the self-titled EP, like the members of Grouplove, is diverse in influence and style but bonded together by an undeniably creative kinship.
