The Warehouse Donates Gumboots to Flood-Stricken Queensland

The Warehouse has donated over 1,600 pairs of gumboots for victims of the devastating Queensland floods.

This Sunday the gumboots will make their way on a Qantas flight from Auckland to Melbourne, courtesy of The Warehouse. Clare Curran, MP for Dunedin South contacted The Warehouse for support after she was approached by Operation Angel, a relief fund set up by Jacqueline Pascarl to assist flood-stricken Queenslanders.

The charity is providing material assistance to the Toowoomba area, using a private property as a distribution point 18km south of Toowoomba.

“These gumboots are essential to the survivors of the Queensland floods during the days ahead and the massive clean up,” says director of Operation Angel, Jacqueline Pascarl. “They will offer protection against contaminants and raw sewage, as well as from debris and snakes. We’re grateful for donations like this from The Warehouse.”

Operation Angel, in conjunction with Australian Defence Force personnel on the ground in Queensland, highlights gumboots as a key practical item currently in short supply.

Ian Morrice, CEO of The Warehouse, comments, “Our hearts and thoughts are with all those affected by the floods in Queensland. As a company, we are delighted to have been able to help.”
