Americans Say Jackson’s Death and Woods’ Affairs Received Excessive Media Coverage
-- Majority reported Prince William’s engagement and WikiLeaks are receiving appropriate coverage --
Flemington, NJ, December 20, 2010 – A new national media study among 1,312 Americans revealed that the majority of respondents indicated that Michael Jackson’s death and Tiger Woods’ affairs have received too much media coverage compared to other events, such as WikiLeaks, Prince William’s engagement, the ground zero Mosque/Community Center and the trapped Chilean miners.
The study was conducted by HCD Research and reported on its MediaCurves.com® website during December 14-16, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of recent and past media events with regard to the amount of media coverage they received.

While the majority of respondents (63%) reported that Michael Jackson’s death received too much media coverage, a greater majority (81%) reported that the Tiger Woods’ affairs received too much coverage. Among the recent media topics, the majority of respondents (63%) indicated that Prince William’s engagement was receiving the appropriate coverage, and the majority of respondents (67%) also reported that WikiLeaks was receiving the appropriate coverage.
