Unemployment, young people and the crisis: OECD press conference, Brussels, Wednesday 15 December
Young people have suffered a disproportionate share of job losses during the global economic crisis. Many governments have boosted spending on programmes to help them.
But with the economic recovery still fragile and fiscal pressures mounting, there are concerns that many will be left behind and could face years of unemployment.
Off to a good start? Jobs for Youth presents new OECD data and analysis on these issues. The report will be released at a press conference in Brussels on Wednesday 15 December at 11.15 a.m.
OECD Deputy Secretary-General Aart de Geus will present the findings, together with Joëlle Milquet, Deputy-Prime Minister and Minister of Employment, Belgium, Xavier Prats-Monné, Director responsible for Employment Strategy and International Affairs, DG Employment, Social Policy and Equal Opportunity, European Commission and Luca Scarpiello, board member of the European Youth Forum.
