*Fire on board HMAS Ararat*
HMAS /Ararat,/ an Armidale Class Patrol Boat, suffered a fire on board whilst alongside Darwin Naval Base late on Wednesday morning.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the ships crew without assistance from civilian fire brigade.
There were no casualties or injuries to any personnel.
The cause of the fire is unknown and Navy is conducting a full investigation.
An initial assessment indicates there is unlikely to be a connection to the fire on board HMAS /Bundaberg /earlier this week. Each of the fires were in different locations on the vessels.
The Armidale Class Patrol Boat availability plan will be reviewed to allow Navy to continue to support operations including Operation Resolute.
