Minister for Defence Science and Personnel, Warren Snowdon said Defence has established dedicated postal addresses to
enable Australians to send gifts to our personnel overseas for the Christmas period.
While the existing Australian Defence Force (ADF) postal service is set up for families of deployed personnel, Defence
welcomes expressions of public support for ADF personnel deployed on overseas operations in the lead up to Christmas.
Mr Snowdon said the celebration of Christmas is an important time for the Australian community but especially so for
those ADF, Australian Federal Police and other Australian Government agency personnel and families that are separated
during Christmas by overseas operational deployments.
“To accommodate parcels and gifts from the Australian public, new Australian Forces Post Office numbers have been
established. [see bottom of the release].
“These addresses will be functional until 15 December allowing Australia Post and Defence enough time to get the
packages to deployed personnel – some of whom are serving in very remote locations overseas.
“Members of the public will be able to access all the information they need with regards to sending their packages, on
the Defence website, Mr Snowdon said.
Alternatively, donations can also be made to the RSL Australian Forces Overseas Fund, which has been sending
pre-prepared care packages overseas to Australians on operations for many years. Links to this Fund, including
instructions on how to donate, will be available on the ‘Support the Troops’ link on the Defence website.
