Flydubai recruits high flyers with CTC

Flydubai recruits high flyers with CTC

Media Release: 23 November 2010
In another initiative to aid the rapid growth of Dubai’s first low cost airline, flydubai has signed a three-year contract with CTC Aviation Group plc - global leaders in airline training and management solutions - to help recruit pilots for its expanding fleet.

With 41 aircraft scheduled to arrive in the next five to six years and an ever-expanding route network, flydubai has a requirement to recruit 140 pilots annually over the next three years. CTC was selected as the perfect partner to support this target and the recruitment activity commenced during October 2010.

CTC has worked extensively with low cost and legacy carriers around the globe for the past 20 years. From its Crew Training Centres in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, as well as local client locations, the company handles aircrew training and selection at all levels to provide airlines and aviation clients with innovative solutions to their wide-ranging requirements.

CTC uses its own bespoke technology - “Electronic Mass Application” (EMA) - to manage pilot applications, which is ideally suited to flydubai; Dubai’s first low cost airline stated the need for proven technology to manage the volume of applicants expected and to streamline the process, aiding the airline’s expansion and also significantly improving the candidate experience. Developed internally by CTC and combining the skills of both CTC’s Information Technology and Selection teams, eMA is already successfully used by several airlines to support their aircrew recruitment activity.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, said: “In partnering with CTC we not only gain access to many years of aviation selection experience, but also to a tailored, advanced and proven applicant management system that will assist us significantly in enhancing the candidate experience as we increase our search for talent world-wide.”

Potential candidates will continue to apply online via a dedicated careers section of www.flydubai.com before CTC’s specialist aircrew selection team takes over, overseeing the process and conducting the initial stages of assessment according to flydubai’s specific requirements. Candidates who are successful through these early phases will then be recommended to flydubai whose own in-house team will complete the process by arranging for short-listed applicants to attend a final interview and meet the flydubai team on-site in Dubai.

CTC’s Group Chairman, Chris Clarke said: “We’re very pleased to partner with a flourishing airline like flydubai. The business is gearing up for a period of phenomenal growth and we are excited to be given the opportunity to work together with such a forward-thinking organisation and assist with this expansion.”

The first assessment days commenced during November and successful pilots will enter training from January 2011.
