ITF comment on Aung San Suu Kyi release
ITF General Secretary David Cockroft commented: "We're delighted to see Aung San Suu Kyi released and wish her well in the huge task ahead. She and her colleagues in the National League for Democracy can count on the continuing support of the trade unions worldwide who have opposed the generals' illegitimate rule in Burma."
He added: “We hope that we will also soon see trade unions – such as the Seafarers’ Union of Burma, an ITF affiliated union currently working in exile – able to operate in the country.”
