The Shape Up America Campaign has already brought the message of family health and fitness to Los Angeles in March, and
also to Central Park in New York City last June, where Shape Up America teamed with the Adventures NYC event that
attracted more than 30,000 health and sports enthusiasts. The campaign is designed to promote better physical fitness
among America's children and dent the current epidemic of childhood obesity in the U.S. Previously, New York Senator
Charles Schumer and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa have both submitted resolutions recognizing The Shape Up
America Campaign founder Michael Torchia for his advocacy of health and fitness issues for families and obese kids.
The Shape Up America Campaign was created to help adults, children and even pets get healthy for their own benefit and
for the lasting benefits that will strengthen the entire nation for generations to come. The campaign targets all
segments of our communities, including schools, city government, civic organizations, community groups, businesses, and
other people who live, work and play in America. The goal is to show people how they can create fun, simple ways of
working out, along with participating in stimulating activities at home, at the office, in a park or even in the
wilderness.
