WA bosses put to test

WA bosses put to test

Twenty seven employers from Perth will spend two days with the Australian Defence Force discovering the benefits of Reserve service.

From 15–16 October 2010, the employers will participate in Defence Reserve Support’s Exercise Executive Stretch (EES).

They will be participating in Defence Reserves Support’s Exercise Executive Stretch (EES).

EES gives business executives the opportunity to observe and experience the personal, technical and professional skills training their employees receive as a member of the Reserve.

Over the weekend, employers will be involved in a number of activities at RAAF Base Pearce, Bindoon army training area and Irwin Barracks, Karrakatta. At RAAF Base Pearce they will view aircraft, try out the Hawk simulator and watch a display of dog handling and air base protection. At Bindoon, the employers will be introduced to living in the field, leadership exercises and view a night live-fire practice. They will also participate in firing the Steyr rifle at the Karrakatta Weapons Tactical Simulator System, and view 13 Brigade’s open day where units will be on display to the public.

Defence Reserves Support Council – Western Australia Committee Chair Duncan Warren says EES provides employers with an opportunity to observe some of the leadership and management skills that a Reservist can bring to the workplace.

“Our aim is to highlight the skills Reservists gain from being in the ADF and how those skills can benefit civilian employers. Furthermore, we want to encourage employers to use the resources and financial support available to them through programs like the Employer Support Payment Scheme.”
