No Barriers To Innovation And Safety
Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific is the only company to claim double category honours at this year’s Westpac Enterprise North Shore Business Excellence Awards, taking out the 3M Excellence in Innovation and the Smith & Davies Excellence in Workplace Safety Awards.
Based in Albany, Amcor Flexibles makes a wide range of barrier films for the dairy, meat and industrial markets and inspired the judges with their unique use of technology and ‘common sense’ approach.
Judges commented on how the company’s focus on innovation and problem solving has highlighted its continued growth; and how staff participation and well established standards has helped implement extremely ambitious health and safety goals.
Amcor’s general manager Gavin Barris says, “To maintain a manufacturing site on the North Shore it has been critical to get our staff to be world class in what we do and to focus our growth on exports. It has also been important to continue our investment in new technology, innovation and to delight our customers in everything we do.”
Over the last 10 years Amcor has changed significantly from selling 80 per cent of its products domestically to now being more diversified and exporting more than 50 per cent of products to over eight international countries.
Enterprise North Shore chief executive Terry Hoskins says “It is wonderful to see Amcor Flexibles Asia Pacific embrace innovation as this is a key component to business growth.
“Their focus on workplace safety is also highly commendable, as the welfare of staff and customers is of utmost importance to businesses.”
