Taiwan/Republic of China today handed over a total of US$450,000.00 for the implementation of regional projects under the Regional Development Assistance for 2009/2010.
The annual contribution will cover 25 projects which will be implemented by CROP agencies. This year’s assistance will support the:
• Fiji School of Medicine (FSMed) – USD

• Pacific Islands Applied Geoscience Commission
(SOPAC) – USD 20,000
• Pacific Islands Forum
Fisheries Agency (FFA) – USD 55,000
• Pacific Islands
Forum Secretariat (PIFS) – USD 55,000
• Pacific Power
Association (PPA) – USD 25,000
• South Pacific Board
for Educational Assessment (SPBEA) – USD 25,000

Secretariat to the Pacific Community (SPC) – USD
135,000
• Secretariat of the Pacific Regional
Environment Programme (SPREP) – USD 70,000
•
University of the South Pacific (USP) – USD 45,000
The supported projects will cover workshops in fisheries negotiations; a feasibility study on the promotion of viable domestic tuna industries; smaller islands states work programme and development fund; aid management and capacity building; workshop in Pacific utilities benchmarking; education; environment; health; ICT outreach; renewable energy and energy efficiency; water management, and post harvest fisheries training.
Taiwan/Republic of China makes annual contributions to the region through its Regional Development Assistance managed by the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
