Obama Keeps Another Campaign Promise

Obama Keeps Another Campaign Promise--And The Crowd Goes Wild!

My fellow Americans, in the words of Judge Judy, you don’t have your listening ears on! I have said before that during the 2008 Presidential campaign, there were those who listened to what Barack Obama said…and those who simply covered or reported what Barack Obama said.

People on the left are losing their collective minds because President Obama is authorizing more troops to be sent to Afghanistan. Is it me or is President Obama doing exactly what Candidate Obama said he would do…finish the job in Afghanistan.

There was no confusion, no misconception, no “dithering”. For almost 2 years during the campaign, Obama repeatedly said that the “war of necessity” in Afghanistan was recklessly abandoned to fight the “war of choice” in Iraq; that Afghanistan was the right war that we should be fighting, that Afghanistan was where those who killed over 3,000 Americans on September 11 were being harbored…and if my memory serves me correctly, it was consistently one of his better applause lines.

Now either these people didn’t listen to what he said or they were just clapping because Barack Obama was moving his mouth and they were in the room.

He didn’t lie. He’s doing exactly what he said he would do throughout the campaign and now some Democrats and liberals on the left (politicians and media pundits included) are having a hissy fit and asking “has Obama forgotten his base?” No, but I think the liberal base has forgotten that not everything is about them!

It’s very interesting to me that with this new President, so many people now think that their particular cause is the MOST important thing on Earth. Gays and lesbians think President Obama should deal with gay marriage first, Hispanics think that Obama should deal with immigration first, African-Americans think that he should focus on affirmative action issues first…and if he doesn’t then they don’t think he’s doing a good job (and the deadly approval rating goes down…ooh!). What we all have to come to grips with is that as much as some people would like to think that Barack Obama is their own personal best friend, he is the President of the United States and he is the President for EVERYONE, not just Blacks or Gays or Hispanics…or Democrats (who have their own set of problems).

I strongly believe that there are those who supported Barack Obama’s ‘ideas’…and those who supported the ‘idea’ of Barack Obama. Whether it was because he was Black or young or hip or athletic or Democrat or whatever, I think many people fell in love with the idea of having this man as President rather than with the ideas this man would implement as President…thus the mass hysteria on the left when President Obama does exactly what Candidate Obama said he would do!

I think for having not even been in office a full year yet, the President has done a good job…especially with the huge mess that awaited him upon his arrival (i.e. 2 wars, global recession, banking/stock market failures, auto industry implosion, record unemployment, huge deficits, home foreclosure crisis, swine flu epidemic, Iran, North Korea, Russia, China, etc.--and not to mention that pretty much everyone around the world hated us).

People let over 8 years go by (6 of those barely asking any questions) to help get us in the hole we are in now, and now they won’t even let Barack Obama have one year to try to get us out. My belief is this. Not everything is black and white and not every problem has only one solution. Sometimes, if we close our mouths and open our ears, we may just hear what we don’t understand…or at least understand what we hear!

Just my thoughts…

Respectfully-

Dee Evans
