Hindus Laud Swiss for Religious Coexistence
Hindus have applauded religious communities in
Switzerland for promoting dialogue, coexistence and
tolerance through a nationwide initiative of “Getting to
Know Each Other”.
“Week of Religions”, which was
launched on November one, would reportedly see religious
communities of various denominations of Christianity, Islam,
Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Baha’ism, Alevism, etc., in
about 40 cities across Switzerland invite each other to
their religious services, besides organizing joint
discussions, music concerts, meetings, inter-religious
prayers and other special events. Using music as a bridge,
the organizers are re-focusing on the religion as a power
which can unify.
Acclaimed Hindu statesman Rajan Zed,
in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, commended this effort
to integrate the society in Switzerland and urged other
European nations to organize similar campaigns. Religion
comprised much more than our own particular tradition or
personal experience and more inclusive, deeper, and broader
understanding of religion was needed, Zed, who is president
of Universal Society of Hinduism, pointed
out.
