Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The United States government has agreed to assist the maintenance of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU)`s Hercules C-130 through the Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) program which is financed under the Foreign Military Fund (FMF) scheme.
Commandant of the TNI AU`s Logistics Maintenance (Koharmatau), Rear Marshal Sunaryo said here on Tuesday that there were two TNI AU Hercules aircraft of the C-130 type which would undergo maintenance under the PDM.
"One aircraft would undergo maintenance in the United States, and the other one in Indonesia where the United States` technician would be invited," he said.
Sunaryo said that all financing for the maintenance and the US technician would be obtained from the United State assistance.
But the TNI AU will also send its technician to study in the United States along with the PDM program.
"So, when the program is undertaken in Indonesia there will also be technician from the United States apart from the Indonesian technicians," he said.
He said that the total funds needed for the program amounted to US$15 million all of which came from the United States. This would be included in a work contract which is still under drafting, he added.
