Proof of Iranian Web Censorship Following Election

Good morning

Following the recent controversial election in Iran, the Iranian Government have been reportedly limiting internet access and blocking connection to certain sites including Facebook and Twitter.

The attached chart provided by Arbor Networks, shows how the Iranian internet traffic was slowed reportedly by 54% in the three days after the election. The attached data was sourced from Arbor’s Internet Observatory service, which gathers information from a variety of internet service providers in the country. It shows that traffic slowly ramped up in the three hours after the election, but that out traffic was still severely limited.

"While the Iranian government was still allowing a very small amount of traffic mainly into the country," said Craig Labovitz, chief scientist of Arbor Networks Inc., a global Internet security provider. "They significantly limited access to all internet sites as the slow speeds made the web pretty much unusable."
