Curfew and closures enforced by Israeli army
Curfew and closures enforced by Israeli army
13th April 2009, 4pm: Israeli forces have closed off several streets in Tel Rumeida neighborhood in Hebron, declaring a curfew until into the evening. One Danish citizen was detained by Israeli soldiers after she was filming on the street.
Palestinian residents of Tel Rumeida have been told not to leave their homes for the next several hours. The curfew only applies to Palestinians and not to Israeli settlers, who live illegally inside the neighborhood. The army has closed off the main street of Tel Rumeida neighborhood with large buses. A Danish solidarity activist was filming this closure, when she detained by Israeli soldiers.
Large parts of Hebron remained remain closed to
Palestinian residents. Hundreds of illegal Israeli settlers
live in Hebron, and Tel Rumeida neighborhood remains under
the direct control of the Israeli military.
