Americans Believe Michael Phelps' Punishment is Fair After Viewing Video
-- Majority agree with Kellogg’s decision to discontinue his sponsorship --

Flemington, NJ, February 9, 2009 – A new national study conducted among 300 Americans revealed that the majority (72%) agree with USA Swimming’s decision to suspend Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps for three months.

The study was conducted by HCD Research during February 6-7, to obtain Americans’ perceptions of a video clip in which Phelps discusses the recent scandal regarding a photo of him in a British tabloid smoking marijuana out of a bong. After the photo was published, the Kellogg’s Company announced that it would not be renewing its contract with Phelps which expires later this month.


Among the findings:
