Appeal To Free Burmese Blogger
Nay Phone Latt
Yesterday Burmese blogger Nay Phone Latt was sentenced to over 20 years in prison by a court in Rangoon.
Nay Phone Latt was found guilty on three counts and sentenced to two years under section 505(b) of the Penal Code, a
crime against public tranquility, three and half years under sections 32(b)/36 of the Video Law and 15 years under
section 33(a)/38 of the Electronic Law.
The young Burmese blogger was targeted by the junta for helping to provide information to the outside world during last
September's "Saffron Revolution", led by Buddhist monks.
28 year-old Nay Phone Latt owned several internet cafés in and around Rangoon. He is also member of Burma's main
opposition party - the National League for Democracy.
There is an urgent need now for bloggers all over the world to demonstrate their solidarity with Nay Phone Latt by
posting his photo on their blogs, and by writing to Burmese embassies worldwide to request his immediate release.
