Diplomatic Relations Set Up Between Fiji & Estonia

Formal diplomatic relations established between Fiji and Estonia

Jul 29, 2008 - History has been created after the signing of the Diplomatic Relations Agreement on Monday 14th July, 2008 at the Estonian Embassy between the two countries with the High Commissioner of Fiji, HE Mr Pio Bosco Tikoisuva signing on behalf of the Government of the republic of the Fiji Islands and the Ambassador of Estonia, HE Dr Margus Laidre signing on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Estonia

The agreement is driven by the desire of the two countries to, among others, promote relations of friendship and co-operation between their respective peoples and countries in the political, economic and cultural fields.

The establishment of diplomatic relations would also serve the national interests of both states.

Furthermore the Agreement establishes diplomatic relations initially at the Ambassadorial level with effect from the date of the signing.
