PM Welcomes Aust Survey Results
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama today welcomed the results of a recent Australian online poll which has ranked Fiji as the safest destination ahead of popular holiday destinations such as Vanuatu and the United Kingdom.
Commodore Bainimarama said the poll portrays the true picture of Fiji as a safe tourist destination despite the negative travel advisories initially put up by the Australia, New Zealand and British Governments
The online poll for Australian families was conducted by the family travel magazine 'Out & About With Kids'.
The Prime Minister said the survey is an accomplishment not only for the Interim Government but also for the tourism industry
"It shows that we are moving in the right direction and Fiji continues to remain a safe tourist destination and visitors to Fiji are well looked after.
"The survey also shows a very positive outlook for Fiji contrary to the negative comments by academics and other analysts. This is indeed a welcoming revelation from a reputable international survey.
"I am sure that potential visitors to Fiji will now feel more confident and ignore the media reports and travel advisories which do not accurately and objectively report the onground situation here."
Prime Minister has also commended the dedication and efforts put in by the Tourism Action Group (TAG) and Fiji Islands Visitors Bureau for marketing Fiji as a safe destination.
Commodore Bainimarama said the interim government is committed to promoting tourism and has called on all stakeholders in this industry to pool resources to utilize this opportunity for enticing visitors to Fiji.
