PM Sikua To Launch Policy Translation Framework
Prime Minister Sikua To Launch Policy Translation Framework
Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua will launch the Coalition for National Unity and Rural Advancement (CNURA) Policy and Translation Framework in Honiara tomorrow.
The framework was formulated by respective government ministries and departments following the recent launching of the CNURA Government policy statement in January.
Prime Minister Dr Sikua said the CNURA policy framework is similar to the Bottom-Up-Approach policy of the previous administration but it takes a major turn in that it advocates strong, healthy and co-equal partnership with regional government's and organizations and other international bodies.
He said the framework recognizes progressive collaborative partnership with development partners including RAMSI as entities that have helped in restoring law and order and energized the local economy when the country was at its lowest point.
The CNURA government pledged to advocate less political rhetoric but more of developmental action in so far as decentralizing powers, functions and government institutions to the provinces for the benefit of rural people.
"We believe that precious time and fewer resources that we have are wasted or lost when leaders put power-brokering priorities over the needs of our people and country," Dr Sikua said.
The Prime Minister called on the implementers of the policy to work earnestly to achieve the aims and objectives of the government in serving people.
The CNURA policy has placed six priority areas with the aim to achieve results during the present government's tenure.
The six areas include Reconciliation and Rehabilitation, National Security and Foreign Relations, Infrastructure Development, Social Services Sector, the Economic and Productive Sector and Civic Affairs.
The launching ceremony will be held at Honiara Hotel.
