SIG Recognizes Chinese Contributions Towards Economy - PM

The Coalition for National Unity and Rural Advancement Government recognizes the contributions by the Chinese community towards the national economy.

Prime Minister Dr Derek Sikua made the statement to coincide with the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rat today.

He said the Chinese community continues to contribute immensely towards the national economy in the areas of commerce and industry, visitor industry and sea transport.

Dr Sikua said Chinese business activities help hundreds of Solomon Islanders who could be left out in the cold to earn an income which is shared with their families back in their home villages.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr Sikua commends many Chinese businessmen who work tirelessly in their various businesses because their efforts towards rebuilding the shattered national economy cannot go unrecorded.

He congratulates the Chinese community in Solomon Islands on their celebrations of their Lunar New Year of the Rat today.
