Chief Justice Calls On Dr Sikua To Stop Misleading Nation
Chief Justice, Sir Albert Palmer has written to the Opposition Group's candidate for Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua urging him to refrain from misleading the nation about the appointment of the Attorney General, Julian Moti.
Sir Albert was responding to the claim made by the North East Guadalcanal MP in Parliament when moving the motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister last Thursday. This was also published in a statement in the Solomon Star the next day.
Dr Sikua claimed that Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare intimidated the Judicial and Legal Services Commission in the appointment of Mr Moti as Attorney General.
The Chief Justice said the claim was misleading and incorrect.
"I wish to refute those suggestions as misleading and incorrect. At no time was the Commission intimidated by the Prime Minister or anyone."
