Top UN envoy deplores triple bombings in southern Iraq
The top United Nations official in Iraq has condemned the three bombings which struck a southern provincial capital
yesterday, leaving dozens of innocent civilians dead and more than 100 others wounded.
Staffan de Mistura, the Secretary-General's Special Representative for Iraq, called the attacks in Amarah "an appalling
crime that deserves condemnation by all."
According to media reports, three car bombs exploded in quick succession on Wednesday morning in the city - the capital
of Maysan Province and located about 350 kilometres south of Baghdad.
