Yediot Aharonot says that Israel, like a sick person who refuses to recover from illness, is having trouble recovering from the US
intelligence report that downplays the Iranian Nuclear threat.
The Jerusalem Post states that for some time Israel has tried to keep a low profile on Iran, and fears that this reticence may have been
misinterpreted as lack of urgency. The editor adds that "This impression needs to be corrected quickly, or the year
ahead will be marked by Iranian advances rather than by increasing pressure on the world's most dangerous terrorist
regime".
Ma'ariv opines that "They have us trained to think that if we would only withdraw from the occupied territories all of our
maladies will be cured. Terrorism has proved that it has neither borders nor lines of separation."
Haaretz decries attempts by right-wing Israeli politicians and influential Diaspora Jews to derail any attempt to reach a
compromise on Jerusalem. With Israel finally on the threshold of an opportunity to make peace with its Palestinian
neighbors, the government and a majority of the public must respond clearly and confidently: Yes to concessions in
Jerusalem, as distinguished from conceding Jerusalem.
