Isabel Farmer Wants Isabel MPs To Join Government

Isabel Farmer Wants Isabel MPs To Join Government

A farmer from Isabel province is calling on the three Isabel MPs to join the Sogavare government so that developments and projects in the province can be implemented.

Warren Sikilabu from the Gao/Bugotu Constituency and former Deputy Premier of Isabel said many people from the province disagreed with the three MP's remaining with the Opposition bence as this may mean that the province will be marginalised on its development goals.

The Current Grand Coalition for Change Government does not have any MP from the Isabel constituencies., and I therefore see this as wrong, as it is the government that has the upper hand in implementing projects and getting things done at the provincial level and the grassroot level", Mr Sikilabu said.

Mr Sikilabu said the projects that the province needs to benefit from, athough the provincial government and Isabel leaders would want them to be implemented, might not eventuate because none of the MP's from the province are part of the current ruling governemnt.

One of the projects is the nickel mining in Isabel, he said. He said a lot has been said in the media about the nickel mining in Isabel but the leaders would have to adopt a proactive approach to ensure that the projects are fully implemented.

And the only way to ensure that major development projects in the province be prioritised is to have Isabel MP's in the Sogavare-led Grand Coalition Government.

Furthermore, being in the government will allow Isabel MP's to have access to advice from the Pacific Islands Forum or other international organisations on nickel mining and prospecting.

But for unknown reasons, the three MP's decided to remain with the Opposition and this has left the people from the province without an active voice to express their concerns.

Among other projects that the MP's need to push for immediate attention are the IDC Shipping with regards to a cargo boat for the province, shortage of staff housing at the Provincial capital, Buala, and the repair of the Tatamba wharf.

"These are important projects for the province, and the MP's should at least ensure that any of these projects are implemented during their tenure".

"The fear that I have, and so are many people from Isabel province is that Isabel will lose out on its development ideals, therefore we need the MP's to join the government and make developments happen as Isabel is one of the big provinces in the country", said Mr Sikilabu.
