HMAS Anzac Returns Home

* What: HMAS Anzac will arrive back in Australia on Wednesday 5 December, after conducting a six-month deployment to the Middle East Area of Operations. Anzac took part in Operation Catalyst, Australia's ongoing commitment to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Iraq.

* When: 11:00am arrival, Wednesday 5 December 2007.

* Where: Media wishing to attend the arrival should arrive by 09:30am at the Pass Office, Point Peron Road, Rockingham, Western Australia, for transfer to the departure wharf.

Parking is available for media crews next to the Pass Office. Media intention to attend this event should be advised to Gary Booth by 8:30am on 0418 223 807. Photo identification will be required.

Media helicopters will be permitted to land at Fleet Base West's Helicopter Support Facility, subject to Gary Booth being advised by 8:30am.

* Who: HMAS Anzac will be welcomed by the Deputy Fleet Commander, Commodore Simon Cullen, AM; the Commanding Officer of HMAS Anzac, Captain Ian Middleton, RAN; along with family and friends of the Ship's company.

HMAS Anzac conducted duties associated with the maintenance of Iraqi maritime sovereignty, protection of Iraqi off-shore infrastructure and assistance in the training of the Iraqi Navy.
