Burma: Foreign Office amends travel advice
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has today amended its Travel Advice for Burma. In light of the stabilising security situation we no longer advise against all but essential travel, however we still include factual information on the present situation, including guidance to exercise caution.
The travel advice now reads:
"In September 2007, there were violent clashes between protestors and Burmese forces and the situation in Burma remains unsettled. However, a curfew imposed by the Government in September 2007 was lifted on 20 October 2007.
You should exercise caution, continue to avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings and avoid taking photographs or videos of the military, the police or demonstrations as doing so could be interpreted as provocative.
