Minister Vahoe Reaffirms Support To Sogavare Government
Government Minister Patrick Vahoe today re-affirmed his strong support and commitment to the government of Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare during a ceremony at the Government House this morning.
Mr Vahoe officially made his re-affirmation and accepted his new ministerial port folio as Minister of Fisheries.
A replacement for his previous portfolio as Minister for Communication, Aviation and Meteorology will be announced soon.
Mr Vahoe dismissed claims by the Opposition group this week that he deserted the government along with others who defected.
"The claim was political and I must say that I am committed to serve the government to advance the bottom up approach policy that can benefit rural people," he said.
The Governor General Sir Nathaniel Waena said Mr Vahoe was not required to take his oath of Office and Allegiance because he is still a government Minister.
Sir Nathaniel said Vahoe did not officially resigned from the government and his official letter of resignation was not even delivered to him (GG).
Meanwhile Sir Nathaniel reiterated his call for political leaders on both sides to solve the current political crisis as soon as possible.
"As responsible leaders, it is important that the matter be resolved as soon as possible to ensure political stability," Sir Nathaniel said.
Chairman of the government Caucus Nelson Ne'e said the government of Prime Minister Sogavare is still intact with nothing much to worry about.
"I want to assure the nation that we will soon resolve the matter and we'll continue to move on to serve the nation," Mr Ne'e said.
