Travel of Deputy Secretary of State John D. Negroponte and Assistant Secretary of State Jendayi Frazer to West Africa
Deputy of State Secretary John D. Negroponte and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Jendayi Frazer will travel November 9-16 to Cote d'Ivoire, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Mali.
They will meet with the leadership of each country and with representatives of civil society. In Mali, the Deputy Secretary will lead the presidential delegation to the meeting of the Community of Democracies to highlight the United States' commitment to promoting democracy, good governance, and partnership with nations that share common values.
The delegation will discuss democracy, security, rule of law, and sustainable development with key partners in West Africa.
