New Chief Information Officer For Defence
The Secretary of Defence, Nick Warner, and Chief of Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, are pleased to announce that Mr Greg Farr has been appointed as Chief Information Officer.
Mr Farr is currently Second Commissioner in the Australian Taxation Office. In this role he oversaw production management areas covering almost all processing of taxpayer information. Mr Farr led significant reform of the ATO's information and communications technology operations.
Mr Farr has been appointed from a competitive field of public and private sector candidates.
The appointment of a new Chief Information Officer is an important step forward for Defence. It meets a key recommendation of the Defence Management Review to give a heightened priority to reform of our business systems.
"We are delighted to welcome Mr Farr to the Defence Organisation and look forward to working with him on what is an increasingly vital part of our activities including in support of ADF operations," said the Secretary of Defence, Nick Warner.
Mr Farr will begin his new role in late November.
