Presentation of the three Sakharov Prize finalists
The three nominees for the European Parliament's 2007 Sakharov Prize for freedom of thought are, in alphabetical order:
* Campaigning Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya
* Sudanese lawyer Salih Mahmoud Osman
* Chinese dissidents Zeng Jinyan and Hu Jia
They were nominated for their campaigns to draw attention to human rights abuses.
Wednesday evening MEPs will hear testimonies from their colleagues and an overview of the human rights situation in Darfur, Russia and China.
BBC reporter Shirin Wheeler will moderate and editors from Novaya Gazeta and the China Labour Bulletin, as well as a lawyer from the Sudan Organisation Against Torture will take part.
