Spring Golf Competition On Norfolk Island

Spring golf competition on Norfolk Island

Norfolk Island Golf Course - one of the world's most picturesque - is gearing up to host the island's first Governor's Cup, an international amateur team golf tournament.

The week-long tournament is played in teams of two and starts on Sunday November 4. Golfers are competing for a prize pool of AU$10,000 (NZ$11,700).

Mixed or single sex teams are accepted for entry enabling couples to participate in the Governor's Cup together during their holiday.

Positioned between the dramatically jagged coastline and the pleasantly well-kept grounds of the Government House, the Norfolk Island Golf Course promises a breathtaking golfing-experience.

The week's programme includes social events such as welcome drinks, welcome buffet dinner, sunset fish fry, gala dinner and sponsors presentation, 18 hole rounds on each of three competition days, plus social Wednesday and Saturday Club day competitions.

There are plenty of ways to enjoy beautiful Norfolk Island in spring-time. With national parks and reserves taking up about a third of the island, popular activities include horse riding, mountain biking, snorkelling, visiting the historical buildings, taking an island tour or going on a peaceful walk to enjoy the local flora and fauna and amazing views.

The Travel Centre on Norfolk Island is offering a special Governor's Cup holiday package, go to www.travelcentre.nf for more information.
