Authorities Probe Samoan Newspaper Fire
The editor of a Samoan newspaper gutted in a fire on the weekend, says the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The editor of Newsline Samoa, Cherelle Jackson would not say whether she thinks the paper was deliberately targeted.
However, she does think the timing of the fire just days prior to the start of the Pacific Games, the country's biggest media event for the year, is notable.
She told Radio Australia's Pacific Beat programme that there is not much left to the newspaper's offices in Apia.
“Everything is gone - printing press, our editorial section, news section, accounts and marketing. So the whole operation is gone, we have nothing left”.
