SUVA (Fijilive/Pacific Media Watch) - Staff at the Fiji Daily Post newspaper have cleared their office in Suva amid reports of threats received by management as the military tightened its cordon around the capital.
Employees were seen packing computers, files and other equipment into taxis and private cars earlier this afternoon.
Sources say the newspaper's general manager, Mesake Koroi, received a call reportedly from the military telling them to move or else they would be coming in.
Koroi refused to comment when contacted.
The army has on numerous occasions criticised the newspaper for its reports on its activities.
The newspaper's publisher, Alan Hickling, claimed yesterday that army personnel have threatened the staff.
