Australian Air Force Exercise With Indonesian Counterparts Completed At Raaf Richmond
Exercise Rajawali Ausindo – a week long,
C-130 interoperability exercise between the Indonesian Air
Force and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) has been
successfully completed at RAAF Base Richmond, Acting Deputy
Chief of Air Force Air Commodore Mark Binskin announced
today.
“Exercise Rajawali Ausindo was designed to improve Australian and Indonesian air transport skills to respond more effectively to future natural disasters in the region” Air Commodore Binskin said.
“The exercise involved airlift training and practice drops of equipment and supplies, as well as information exchanges on humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.”
The exercise was last held in Indonesia in 1998 and recommencement was agreed at the 2005 Airman to Airman talks with the Indonesian Air Force.
It involved Australian and Indonesian C-130 crews and maintenance personnel and was conducted from Royal Australian Air Force Base Richmond between 27 November – 01 December 06.
The exercise demonstrates the commitment between Australia and Indonesia to strengthen the Defence relationship in areas of mutual security and promote friendship and cooperation between the nations’ Air Forces.
