Samoan Police Probe Damage To Paper Printing Press
APIA (Pacnews/IFEX/RA/Pacific Media Watch): Police are investigating a possible case of sabotage at the Samoa Observer
newspaper, Radio Australia reports
A vital hose on the printing press was cut through and several other bits of machinery were found to have been tampered
with.
The paper has featured some strong editorials on Samoan politics recently and has received threats over its reporting.
The Samoa Observer newspaper's editor, Keni Lesa, said if the sabotage had not been discovered in time the attack could
have crippled the newspaper.
"The press would have been in bits and pieces," he said.
"It would have just broke, simple as that."
