FOX News Provides Free Ad For Its Main Progressive Critic, Amy Goodman’s "Democracy Now"
Well, this is probably not what FOX officials had in mind when they invited NYU Professor Bertell Ollman, who is also the president of the International Endowment for Democracy, on its popular Hannity and Colmes talk show on Thursday, June 20. The occasion was arranged to offer Sean Hannity a chance to complain about a low grade he received – supposedly because of his conservative politics - in a course on socialism that he took with Professor Ollman 25 years ago.
Ollman, on the other hand, took advantage of his appearance before FOX's large and generally conservative T.V. audience to hold up a sign that said: ‘Tired of phony news? See http://www.democracynow.org/,’ providing the country’s main source of progressive news with a valuable free ad on the country’s most conservative news network.
After the event, Ollman’s said, ‘This one was for you, Abbie Hoffman. And, after all, helping groups that are trying to build a real democracy in the country that needs it most - the U.S.A. - is what the I.E.D. is all about’.
