Business focus for NZ parliamentary Pacific tour

Business a key focus for New Zealand parliamentary tour of the Pacific

The New Zealand Foreign Minister, Winston Peters, says there is an emphasis on fostering business on this year’s annual New Zealand parliamentary familiarisation tour of the Pacific.

He’s to lead a party of MPs, NGOs, government officials and business people to Vanuatu and the Cook Islands from next Monday.

Mr Peters says there are enormous opportunities in the region in areas such as transport and ports.

“They need infrastructural investment and I want business people to turn their minds to how perhaps they could help that and assist that sort of development. These are people who are familiar with fishing industries and things like that and so it is the resources of the islands that we are seeking to better use for their benefit and for the benefit of the Pacific region.”
