Mexico Parties Slam US Cuba Policy

Mexico, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Leaders and legislators of main Mexican parties condemned the implementation in Mexico of US anti-Cuban measures such as the Helms-Burton, which tightens the blockade of the Island.
Representatives of the Democratic Revolution (PRD), the Institutional Revolutionary (PRI) and the National Action (PAN) parties branded the US actions as unacceptable and dangerous.
PRD spokesman Gerardo Fernandez lashed out at the expulsion of a Cuban business delegation from the Maria Isabel Sheraton Hotel by the order of the US Department of Treasury.
It is regrettable that the Mexican administration allows the implementation of foreign laws in our nation, since it proves, once more, to which point the servility to the US has reached, Fernandez said.
PRI Deputy Manlio Fabio Beltrones, chairman of the Group of Friendship with the US at the Lower Chamber, demanded to halt those actions, especially if they are ordered by a foreign government.
PAN National Executive Committee´s International Relations Chief Rolando Garcia also condemned the implementation of US restrictions against Cuba in his country.
Garcia told media outlets that the PAN rejected those laws because they sought to isolate Cuba when "the world should open to Cuba and Cuba should open to the world," as Pope John Paul II put it in his visit to the small Caribbean island.
The PAN must condemn those actions and the over four-decade US blockade of Havana, he noted.
However, Rolando Garcia supported President Vicente Fox´ stance to ignore the incident saying it is "a matter between two states."
The Mexícan Solidarity Movement with Cuba has called to march in front of the Maria Isabel Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday to protest the scandalous implementation of US laws in Mexico.
