Aust: Expanded Terms in UN Oil for Food Inquiry

Government Agrees To Expanded Terms of Reference For UN Oil for Food Inquiry

The Attorney-General, Philip Ruddock, has announced the Government’s agreement to expand the terms of reference for the UN Oil for Food Inquiry.

The Hon Terence Cole AO QC, who is conducting the Inquiry, wrote to Mr Ruddock requesting a change to his terms of reference so his report may cover BHP Billiton Limited, Tigris Petroleum Corporation Pty Ltd and related companies and persons.

Mr Cole requested the change in light of evidence which has emerged in the course of the Inquiry.

“The terms of reference have been amended in accordance with the Mr Cole’s request and in the form proposed by him,” Mr Ruddock said.

Copies of the amendment will shortly be available.
