Armygeddon Unleashed
The Chief of Army, Lieutenant General (LTGEN) Peter Leahy, today unleashed Army's newest vehicle at the Summernats 19 launch.
Called 'ARMYGEDDON', this is one amazing vehicle. Its unique capabilities will attract the attention of those who really know about Street Machines.
"Summernats is a fantastic event to launch this vehicle and the opportunities available in the Army for those interested in technical trades," LTGEN Leahy said.
"This vehicle can do what others can only dream about - driving any wheel, or wheels, while holding the others still."
"This is an outstanding piece of machinery. Anyone can do a normal burnout, only this vehicle can do these incredible combinations.'
"The maintenance and operation of the Army Street Machine will provide opportunities for trainees to gain experience in a technical project that complements their formal Army training.'
"I am very proud to say it's one of the Army's newest, and coolest, recruiting tools."
The vehicle is based on a 6x6 Landrover with extensive high performance modification to the engine and drive train. The cabin has been modified and painted in a distinctive pattern while the tray is entirely custom built by Initial Trade Trainees.
"The Army is widely recognised as providing excellent skills, training and nationally recognised qualifications across a broad range of careers. I believe this project will raise the profile of some of the technical trades available as well as promoting the Army as a varied and interesting career to a key target market - young people," LTGEN Leahy said.
Its easy to find information on a career in the Army - either visit the www.defencejobs.gov.au web site or contact 13 19 01.
You can see the Army Street Machine, ARMYGEDDON, in action during Summernats 19, Friday 6th - Sunday 8th January 2006.
