British Turkish Committee for Dialogue condemns the terrorist attacks in London
We, as members of the British Turkish community, strongly condemn the latest terrorist attacks on civilians in London.
After the attacks in Istanbul (2003), British targets have once again been struck, and the people of London are the latest victims of terrorism.
The terrorist attacks in Istanbul, November 2003, cost many lives ,including Muslims, Christians and Jews. In these attacks; Britain sadly lost the British Consul General, Roger Short. More than 700 innocent people were also injured.
Turkey has lost more than 30,000 people, as a result of the terrorist activities in the last two decades. Both the Turkish and British people understand the devastating effects of terrorism. We find it notable that ordinary citizens of London, another peaceful multicultural metropolis, have been attacked.
We perceive this dastardly terrorist act as an attack not only on the innocent people of London, but also against a global symbol of peaceful coexistence of people from diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds. We maintain the opinion that our greatest response to these attacks would be to preserve this harmony, even more than before.
British Turkish Committee for Dialogue welcomes the declaration of the Turkish government that strongly condemns the terrorist attacks and offers greater cooperation with UK against terrorism . We call on Turkish people as a whole, to show solidarity with the British Nation at these difficult times. We strongly believe that the international co-operation in the fight against terrorism should be strengthened to eradicate this menace, in all its forms: Terrorism has no particular religion, language, ethnicity or nation.
We, as members of a mostly Muslim community, declare that no religious or non-religious motive can be used as an excuse or cover for terrorist attacks on innocent civilians.
We would like to see the perpetrators of this crime against humanity captured and brought to justice at once and we convey our community's condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in these attacks.
Sincerely,
Executive Committee, on behalf of British Turkish Committee for Dialogue
